You feel like you are struggling to complete daily tasks and handle routine stressors. You often feel anxious, worried, or nervous. You are struggling with feeling restless, irritable or on edge often. You often struggle to calm yourself down and find yourself worrying most days about different things. You may be noticing some physical signs of anxiety as well, including trouble breathing, racing heart, shakiness and feeling dizzy or faint. You may feel out of control of your emotions or behaviors.
You may be coping with your anxieties in an unhealthy way (drugs, alcohol, self-harm, avoidance, sex, toxic relationships, etc.) You’re having trouble seeing “the light at the end of the tunnel”. You may be experiencing regular panic attacks and avoiding people or situations due to panic or worry. Overall, you seem to be having a hard time relaxing or letting things go. Maybe you feel like you never enjoy yourself anymore.
If you suffer from stress, anxiety and consistently feeling overwhelmed, you are not alone. Treatment can help, and therapy is a good place to start for many stress and anxiety issues you are feeling. You may also be here because you are worrying about your teen that is struggling with stress or anxiety. Therapy can help you or your loved ones to uncover the underlying causes of your stress, worries and anxiety and move through them to a place of more peace and calm.
I am so glad to welcome you to R & R Mental Health Counseling. I am happy to be here to guide you through this process today and I believe you found my page for a reason. I am pleased to offer a safe, cozy and comfortable space for my clients. In sessions, we can work together based on your personal comfort and safety level. It is important to me to establish a strong foundation of trust and understanding with you.
As a therapist, working with anxiety and stress is one of my specialties. My style is warm, supportive, direct and clear. You, as the client are totally in the driver seat. As your therapist, I am your guide to help you get back on track and find your way. I am open and receptive to all issues, struggles, perspectives and walks of life. In my sessions, I utilize a gentle, non-judgmental approach. I will offer you new perspectives and ways to look at things differently. Weekly sessions also offer you the opportunity to be accountable to someone other than yourself.
Pacing during the sessions is based on your comfort levels (meaning we are not going to jump into talking about anything too deep, heavy or traumatic if you aren’t ready for it, likewise we can dive right into it if that’s what you would like.) We will work together to develop personalized treatment plans and goals for you. As we progress, I will encourage you to give your feedback, input and ideas throughout each session. I will help you to develop coping skills for anxiety and stress that are unique to YOU. Together we will also work on finding your strengths.
Throughout our sessions you will learn how to trust yourself to find the resources you may need during times of increased stress or anxiety. You will learn to recognize the patterns and dynamics that aren’t working for you, including becoming more aware of your anxiety triggers. You will learn to use your strengths even in times of doubt and overwhelm. We will also practice grounding techniques to help you manage symptoms of panic or anxiety attacks.
Therapy sessions can offer you the opportunity to feel more relaxed and less stressed. You will be able to deal with daily stressors in a more healthy and sustainable way. You will reduce your reliance on unhealthy coping behaviors and grow to acknowledge the things you can let go of. You will feel less irritable as well as gain an awareness of your personal anxiety triggers. You will also learn to focus more on what is inside your circle of control rather than outside of it.
Please don’t continue to go on suffering until you burn out, stressing your mind and your body. You may feel stuck in the anxiety and stress cycle. Feeling lost, helpless or powerless over your emotions can be crippling. You may suffer from continued panic attacks, unhealthy coping mechanisms, as well as develop more physical symptoms in response to emotional distress (headaches, nausea, sleep issues, etc).
Take control and ownership over yourself and your stress. Together, we can implement accountability and structure to help you achieve your goals. You deserve to focus on yourself.
